What is Gamer Coder™?
This programme is a course for students looking to pick up game development skills.
Our students will understand the components needed to create a game and an application. They will learn and apply coding logic and design techniques; and be exposed to block-based and text-based programming languages with these popular platforms: MakeCode Arcade, App Lab, CoSpaces Edu, Virtual Reality, and Roblox Studio.
With this programme, students can take the first step to becoming a game developer and make your gaming dreams a reality!
Course Structure
Each level consists of 8 lessons

Microsoft MakeCode Arcade is a tool to develop programming skills by quickly creating and modding retro arcade games with blocks.
Level 1 – Use block-based coding language, with drag and drop interface to create retro-style games

Code.org’s App Lab is a programming environment where you can make simple apps. Students can design an app, code in JavaScript with blocks or text, then share your app in seconds.
Level 2 – Learn basic app design to create mobile apps using block-based coding interfaces

CoSpaces is a tool built for all ages to enable students to build and code their own experiences, not just consume them. It also engages and captivates students to enhance their digital literacy skills.
Level 3 – Create, code and explore immersive 3D virtual environments & experiences

Roblox has grown rapidly over the second half of the 2010s, reaching 164 million users as of August 2020. Students will learn how to use Roblox Studio, which is Roblox’s proprietary engine to build games and experiences that can be shared easily with any other users.
Level 4 – Introduction to Roblox Studio and the ability to build virtual environments, define interactions with objects and use basic Lua coding skills
Level 5 – Explore template worlds and add coding interactions between players and environment
