What is Kiddo Coder™?

This programme allows your child to explore and immerse themselves in the world of technology, developing an interest and curiosity about coding while building a basic understanding of technology and Artificial Intelligence, through fun and creative projects!

Using screen-free coding platform like Botley®, simple drag-and-drop interfaces like Scratch Jr., educational micro computer micro:bit, and entry-level coding robot like Codey Rocky, your child will have a head start on early childhood development through digital literacy.

Course Structure

Each level consists of 8 lessons
Level 1 (Botley)

Botley engages children as young as 5 years in a basic form of coding utilising step coding and logic. Children can learn to code and do it completely screen free – no phone or tablet required.

Level 1 – Learn how codes function and combine to perform simple tasks and achieve different objectives

Level 2-3 (Scratch Jr.)

Scratch Jr. is a visual programming language designed to introduce programming skills to children ages 5–7. The app is considered an introductory programming language – a simplified way to learn programming at a younger age and without any reading or mathematics required.

Level 2 – Introduction to Scratch Jr. and creating simple animations

Level 3 – Learning advanced functions and creating customised backdrops and characters

Level 4 (micro:bit)

micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that introduces you to how software and hardware work together. It has an LED light display, buttons, sensors and many input/output features that, when programmed, let it interact with you and your world.

Level 4 – Learning the next level of block-based coding using micro:bit and coding via MakeBlock

Level 5 (Codey Rocky)

Codey Rocky is the robot that makes learning computer science, technology and 21st-century skills easy. Start programming right out of the box – no building required.

Level 5 – Learning to program Codey Rocky and its various functions (movement and sensors) using MBlock

Level 6 (Artificial Intelligence)

Code.org, mBlock, and Machine Learning for Kids are the platforms that will be used in this level. They are beginner-level artificial intelligence tools that are easy to use due to their block-based nature.

Level 6 – Learning basic concept of A.I. and coding the A.I. projects through Code.org, mBlock and Machine Learning for Kids.
